In his work Carmi involves two main axes of interest. One relates to the local israeli culture, place and scenes. The other runs alongside and refers to questions about viewpoint, about doubt, about time, about true and false. Although normally the visuals in Carmi's work appear realistic, they mostly involve staged or manipulated photography. Carmi's standard work process features an assembly of elements from multiple shots to composite the final image.
